Dear VHS Students and Families,
Weeks such as courtwarming matwarming, and homecoming are special times for students to come together and celebrate school spirit, pride, and community. It’s a chance to show support for our school, enjoy fun activities, and make lasting memories with friends. From dressing up for spirit days to cheering at games, the week brings energy and excitement to campus. These events remind us that high school is about more than academics. it’s also about connection, tradition, and enjoying the moments that make the school year unforgettable.

Earning Their Stripes- Career and Technical Students

I am incredibly proud of our students and their outstanding success in our Career and Technical Student Organizations. Their achievements represent far more than awards or placements. They reflect hard work, leadership, and a commitment to excellence that defines our school.
Career and Technical Student Organizations such as DECA, FCCLA, JAG, and FFA play a vital role in preparing students for life beyond high school. Through these experiences, students apply classroom learning to real-world challenges, develop career-ready skills, build confidence, and explore future pathways. These organizations help students discover their strengths, set goals, and grow into leaders who are prepared for both college and the workforce.
Our students have dedicated countless hours to honing their skills, collaborating with peers, and representing our school with professionalism and pride. Their success is also a testament to the dedication of our teachers, the support of families, and a school culture that values opportunity, innovation, and student growth.
Our students in these organizations set a great example for the rest of our students. The positive impact they continue to make for our school and community goes beyond the classroom walls.

The Tiger Care Crew: A Message from the Counselors

The counseling office has been busy preparing schedules for next year, working on curriculum guides with the teachers, and organizing Extreme Testing Day.

On Extreme Testing Day, March 10th, students at every grade level will take important assessments that help measure academic progress, career readiness, and future opportunities.
  • Freshmen will take the 8–9 ACT, which helps establish an early baseline of college and career readiness. This test shows where students are strong and where they can grow, guiding instruction and goal-setting as they move through high school.
  • Sophomores will take the 9–10 ACT, building on that foundation. The results help students track improvement over time and better understand the skills needed for college-level coursework and career pathways.
  • Juniors will take a combination of the ACT, ASVAB, and Accuplacer.
  • The ACT is critical for college admissions and scholarships.
  • The ASVAB helps students explore career strengths and is especially valuable for those interested in military or technical careers.
  • Accuplacer assists colleges in placing students into the right level of courses, potentially saving time and money after graduation.
  • Seniors will take these same assessments plus the WorkKeys.
  • WorkKeys measures real-world workplace skills and can lead to a National Career Readiness Certificate, which is recognized by employers and can strengthen job applications.
Each of these tests serves a purpose: helping students understand their abilities, plan for life after high school, and open doors to college, careers, and training opportunities. Extreme Testing Day is a chance for every student to take an important step toward their future.
